Don Hawley Invitational Tarpon Tournament
The world's top fly-rod anglers endure a five-day test of will and muscle, fishing Keys waters using fly tackle and either a 12- or 16-pound tippet. Named for the late fly fisherman and conservationist Don Hawley, the tournament benefits the Guides Trust Foundation, assisting professional fishing guides and supporting backcountry fishery conservation programs.

This is a family-oriented tournament with cash prizes for Dolphin, Wahoo, Snapper and Grouper, along with prizes for heaviest fish by a lady angler and heaviest fish by a juvenile angler. Heaviest Dolphin is worth $2500. Women's Spring Fly Tarpon Classic
The Florida Keys Women's Fly Tournament Series includes both spring and fall angling challenges. This is an all-release, all-fly tarpon fishing tournament with trophy prizes to be awarded -- no photos are required, it is purely and honors event, and tarpon over 48 inches are eligible for release. Entry fee is $650 and includes all activities for guide and angler. Social tickets can be purchased for friends and family for additional cost.

Key West West Africana Festival
Explore music, art, and Key West's Afro-Caribbean culture during a three-day destination retreat focusing on thought, culture and wellness. Discovery Saturday Educational Series: Guard the Fort
Presented by the Florida Keys Eco Discovery Center, this family-friendly and educational series invites kids in kindergarten through fifth grade from 10-11 a.m. to play games and make crafts while learning about a new topic of interest and the marine ecosystems of the Keys. Discovery Saturday is held the third Saturday of every month. Pre-registration is recommended. 24th Annual Station Islamorada Dolphin Rodeo
Sponsored by the Coast Guard Station Islamorada, Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Assn., and Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 13-08, this event is to award more than $900 in prize money, as well as hold a raffle and cookout after the weigh-in. History of Diving Museum presents: The Search for the Pirate-Slaver Guerrero
The History of Diving Museum at MM 83 continues the free, "Immerse Yourself!" series, to begin at 7 p.m., with a special event: Shipwrecks of the Keys & Underwater Archaeology, presented by Corey Malcom, Director of Archaeology for the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum. The Havana-based Pirate ship, Guerrero, wrecked in 1827 on a reef near the Florida Keys with 561 African captives aboard. The story of the Guerrero includes a tale of ruthless, absconded pirates who rose up against their rescuers, hijacked them and continued their voyage to Cuba. The Museum is open daily from 10am-5pm. Extended hours on the night of the program until 7pm. Enjoy the Museum's exhibits before the event.

Members of the dive public are invited to attend this free lionfish safe handling and capture workshop at 7 p.m. at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center in Key West (35 East Quay Road). This free workshop is required for a Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary permit to remove lionfish from Sanctuary Preservation Areas with hand nets.

Viva 500: The Hidden History of the Dry Tortugas, 1513-2013
On June 21, 1513, explorer Ponce de Leon and his shipmates discovered a group of islands they named Las Tortugas (The Turtles) for the scores of sea turtles there. On the 500th anniversary of that discovery, visit the seven tiny coral-and-sand islands now known as Dry Tortugas National Park, lying 68 miles west of Key West in the Gulf of Mexico, and learn about the archaeology and history of the remarkable spot during this special quincentennial event. Boat reservations to the Dry Tortugas can be made with Yankee Freedom. Admission to the park is included in ferry cost. Event is to be staged on the parade grounds of Ft. Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas National Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Key West Gator Club Dolphin Derby
A grand prize of $5,000 cash is to be awarded the boat team with the largest aggregate weight in dolphin during the derby's two fishing days, with teams allowed to enter one qualifying fish each day. Second- and third-place teams will earn $2,500 and $1,000, respectively. Individual anglers can compete for trophies, prizes and cash totaling more than $15,000 in the tournament's divisions for male, female and junior participants.

This inaugural charity tournament is intended to draw anglers looking for a fun and affordable event, while helping to raise funds. Funds raised are to benefit the Good Health Clinic in Tavernier and Children of Fallen Soliders Relief Fund. More than $5,000 in cash & prizes to be awarded. Ladies, Junior divisions as well. Ocean Life Lecture Series: Cuba, The Accidental Eden
Presented by the Friends of Key Largo Cultural Center, Fernando Bretos will share stories from his 13-year effort in Cuba to study the marine resources shared between the U.S. and Cuba, particularly sea turtles and coral reefs. He will screen a short film by the PBS Nature television program that features his work in Cuba, and discuss why collaboration between the American and Cuban marine science communities is important to understanding our own marine and coastal natural resources. The Marathon Games
Out-of-town contestants who have never been to the Florida Keys before are to be teamed up with local contestants - and they will all be competing in various water and land activities in the Marathon area. This week marks the first round of fun! There will be three weeks of competition. Each week will consist of five different pairs of contestants. Everyone will compete in Florida Keys activities - including fishing, snuba, parasailing, and other activities.
