With Key West being such a Gay-Friendly
Island you will find many things to see and do while
you are here. Apart from the regular boat trips and
attractions offered Key West also has gay/
lesbian and exclusively male or exclusively female
snorkel trips and sunset sails. Private
gay charters can also be arranged for your
enjoyment. If you want a change from your own accommodations,
most of the guesthouses will offer a
day
pass to
their facility allowing you to experience their pool,
sunning and bar areas. For the guys, the Island
House allows non-guests to dine at their
cafe.
Key West has an abundance of Gay Nightlife.
The Bourbon Street Complex is one of Key
West’s best known gay hangouts and comprises
of The Bourbon Street Pub and
the 801 Bar. The Bourbon Street Pub stays
open to 4am and has “Happy Hour Specials” from
11am to 8pm, with 4 bars, including the pool bar
at the back. The Bourbon Street Pub caters
mainly to men and has dancers on the main bar from
10pm-4am. Great music, great times, Bourbon
Street is a must for any gay man visiting
Key West. No cover on most nights.
Across the street is the 801 Bar which
has the main bar downstairs overlooking Duval Street
and the famous 801 Cabaret Room upstairs.
The downstairs bar offers a friendly quieter atmosphere
where people can meet over a cocktail or just sit
with a beer and enjoy the best in 70’s music
while checking out the cute bar staff. The 801 is
also open until 4am with “Happy Hour” Specials
from 11am-8pm. There are nightly shows upstairs in
the Cabaret Room with some of Key
West’s most famous drag queens that put on
an energetic and often outrageous performance that
should come with a government health warning attached…"Leave
your mother at home!” Shows start at 9pm and
11pm, 7 nights a week and there is no cover.
To the back of the 801 is Key West’s only
leather bar, Saloon One, which is
home to the famous Key West Wreckers. Pull out those
Levi’s or chaps and go and pay them a visit.
La te Da’s on Duval Street
offer a great range of nightly entertainment with
the famous Crystal Rooms cabaret
lounge upstairs and the By George Piano Bar downstairs.
With an outside pool bar overlooking
Duval Street and the new La te Da Restaurant on
the premises, this complex is a great favorite of
Key West’s locals. The Crystal Rooms features
its main shows every week on Thursdays through Sundays
starting at 9pm. Female impersonators Randy
Roberts and Christopher Peterson
offer their renditions of Cher, Lucille Ball,
Marilyn Monroe and many, many more during their
separate shows which have become such a Key West
tradition with visitors and locals alike. Schedules vary slightly depending
on the time of year so we recommend you check times
and book in advance to avoid missing out on these
spectacular entertainment specials. The By
George Piano Bar has nightly entertainment
starting at 9.30 each evening with one of the most popular
acts being
Debra
and Patrick who usually play Friday and Saturday nights. There
is no cover to get thoroughly entertained at the By
George Piano Bar and never has something
so civilized, been so much fun.
Not to be missed when you visit Key West is Aqua
Nightclub which offers some of the best
entertainment
every night of the week. Daily
between 3pm-8pm they have “Happy Hour” prices in
their front bar looking out onto Duval. Famous
for its hysterical drag shows starring The
Aquanettes, this will give you something to
tell your friends about. The shows start at 9pm, 7 days a week
(9pm and 11pm on Saturday) and they
always attract a very mixed, fun loving crowd. Don’t
forget to bring your dollar bills! There is a small
cover charge during show time but this is not to be
missed entertainment that you will want to come back
for. Resevations are recommended if you want a
table or booth. On Friday's they
have one of Key West favorite singers, Raven Cooper, playing between
5pm - 8pm. Whether you want to dance to
some of Key West best DJ's see a show, try your hand
at Poker, or simply sip on a cocktail or four, come on down to
Aqua Nightclub. Check their
website for further details of nightly
entertainment:

Sundays is the night for a great Key West tradition, Tea
Dance at La te Da.
Good music and dancing on the deck overlooking
the pool with Key West's popular DJ Junior spinning
the discs. A great meeting place for both men and women
this is a ‘must do’ event to complete
your Key West vacation. Tea Dance runs
from 4pm-6.30pm and there is no cover.
KWEST for Men (women are allowed)
offers an ever changing atmosphere depending on the
time of day. “Happy Hour” runs from 3pm-8pm daily
and offers very reasonable drinks and great
entertainment. A fabulous mix of show tunes, those
oldies but goodies and modern day classics keeps the
customers coming time after time with an impromptu
sing-a-long never being too far away. After 10pm the
place transforms and they have male dancers
strutting their stuff to a quicker beat.
You can also get a great taste of the Key West bars
and meet more of the local's by taking part in the Gay
Pub Crawl. Click here for more information:

Remember with Key West’s now world famous motto
of “One Human Family” you do not have to
be in a gay bar to meet gay people or to have a great
time. A number of different venues offer great nightly
entertainment so just give us a call, let us know what
you are looking for and we will be happy to point you
in the right direction. The Key West
Business Guild's visitor center on Truman Avenue is also
open 7 days a week with information on all of Key West's
gay and gay friendly properties.
